This ryokan was so worth it. Check-in was a breeze, both the lobby and the restaurant have free drinks! We got the package that included dinner and breakfast and both meals were incredible, there was such a wide variety of traditional Japanese food for both meals and there was enough as well that we were so full afterwards. Our room had a private onsen and traditional Japanese futons. The onsen is great and has a cold water faucet so you can adjust the temp of the water if it’s too hot - just get in slowly! All of the staff from the desk to the restaurant were so polite and nice. If you’re riding the “S” Hakone Tozan bus you can get off at the Venetian Glass Mori stop and cross the street. If you’re riding the “T” Hakone Tozan bus you would get off at Shinanoki. Just note that when leaving, the bus to Odawara tends to be *extremely* crowded, and the bus has to go through a lot of turns to get down the mountain. We ended up getting off at Hakone Yumoto station and taking a train instead because I got motion sickness. 😅

Really recommend booking with the dinner and breakfast included, both were excellent. On top of this, one of our party couldn't eat fish and they were very accommodating of this and prepared her different options for the meals. Location was very good. Multiple busses run to it from Gora and some all the way down to Hakone Yumato and even Odawara (although I would avoid these if bringing large luggage as the Odawara busses can be very crowded and won't necessarily have room for large bags) The private onsen bath with the room we booked was excellent. Only large enough to comfortably fit 2 people at a time but that was fine you don't want to spend too much time in it in one go. We all used it multiple times despite only staying one night. Would have gladly spent a few extra days here to enjoy it further! While it was the most expensive place we stayed during our trip it seemed very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and the inclusion of the private bath. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Hakone.

Great traditional style Japanese rooms, just what we wanted! Really nice to have a small private onsen in the room. The public onsen we loved going to as well as it is much bigger. Dinner and breakfast was super nutritious. We loved our stay here. A lot of the reviews here mention the location being out of the way but don’t let that put you off. Most places to stay in Hakone are pretty spread out. If you have the Hakone free pass it’s very easy to get a bus from Hakone Yumoto station to there (about 25 minutes). Then the hotel is near the bus to take to Lake Ashi and the cable car (also included in the free pass). If you have a lot of luggage I would recommend forwarding it to your next hotel after Hakone instead of bringing it with you and just pack an overnight bag.

We had a private onsen in our room, quite small but very delightful. The public onsen was very nice, we were the only ones there when going in the morning. The public onsen has very long opening hours, which is very nice as a lot of things close early in Hakone. Nice and helpful staff, free diy drink bar in the main building and the restaurant. The breakfast was very traditional Japanese. The hotel provides the guests with traditional robes and slippers. The location is conviniently by a bus stop (direct bus from Hakone Onawara station, about 40 min ride. Would recommend getting Hakone freepass for the transportation). Well located if you wish to hike up Mt Ashigara to view Mt Fuji

Gorgeous stay with private onsen in the room which was very welcome after 5 busy days walking around Tokyo. Room was well equipped and staff were helpful and friendly, free drinks (including alcohol) available from reception throughout the stay. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were a real treat (although not to our taste as fussy western eaters it was good to experience!) Can be accessed by bus but we had a car and would recommend this for anyone staying here - parking was plentiful and free. Well located in a quiet spot for exploring the surrounding area. Wish we stayed 2 nights!
